The Weather Company Realigns New York Sales Team, Expanding VP Roles To Reflect Cross-Platform Sales Strategy Momentum

Mark Mooney Adds Responsibilities, Alicia Muntzner Joins from NBCUniversal

As Both Are Named Vice President of East Coast Sales

New York, NY – February 24, 2014 – To fully reflect The Weather Company’s successful cross-platform sales strategy, the company has created two regional vice president roles in its New York office that will each lead a team focused on TV, digital, mobile, programmatic, WeatherFX, addressable TV/audience targeting and other channels, no longer being separated into cable and digital sales teams.

As part of this realignment, Mark Mooney’s role as vice president, East Coast cable sales, has expanded to vice president, East Coast sales, to fully reflect all platform sales. Mooney joined Weather in 2011. Additionally, the company has named Alicia Muntzner vice president of East Coast sales. Muntzner joins the company from NBCUniversal.

Mooney’s and Muntzner’s teams will be divided based on agency and client roster, and both report in jointly to Chris Raleigh, senior vice president of cable and cross-platform ad sales, and Jeremy Steinberg, senior vice president, digital ad sales for The Weather Company.

“Both Mark and Alicia have a keen understanding of The Weather Company’s unique value proposition in the marketplace as an innovative media company,” said Raleigh. “With our recent success of our rebrand and the upcoming launch of our new morning show, ‘AMHQ with Sam Champion,’ they will play instrumental roles in driving our 2014 go-to-market strategy across all platforms.”

“This realignment reflects Weather’s strengths and position as an industry leader,” said Steinberg. “Our sales team was recently recognized with two more Advertiser Perceptions awards, and together, Alicia and Mark will continue to build our award-winning sales team at the intersection of WeatherFX, location services and storytelling, leveraging our data and technology to support our industry products and services.”

Prior to joining Weather, Muntzner spent 17 years in sales at NBCUniversal. Most recently, she served as vice president, advertising sales for Style network, where she led national ad sales and created the brand and sales strategy for Style Media. Before that, she was director, advertising sales for USA Networks, where she managed day-to-day operations of the New York sales team.

Before her direct sales roles, Muntzner served as vice president, sales planning for USA Networks, where she supervised day-to-day operations of the sales planning departments for both USA Network and the Sci-Fi Channel’s (now Syfy) NY and regional offices. She was promoted to vice president after moving up the ranks through several roles in sales planning at USA Networks. Muntzner began her career on the agency side at Adcamp Associates and Chiat/Day.

Muntzner earned a bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA, and a second-year political science degree from the University of Strasbourg in Strasbourg, France.
