New York, NY – August 18, 2014 – The Weather Company is adding to its growing WeatherFX division, namingEd Kozek to the newly created position of senior vice president, product and engineering, WeatherFX, The Weather Company.
Kozek will be responsible for originating and growing the engineering, product management, and data sciences teams that supports the WeatherFX business. He and his teams will work with Weather’s ad sales team to provide best-in-class advertising solutions for blue chip marketers based on their individual data needs. Kozek will be based in the company’s New York office and will report to Vikram Somaya, general manager, WeatherFX, The Weather Company.

His vision for new and unique applications of our various proprietary data sets and media assets will be hugely valuable for our marketer and partner ecosystem."
Prior to joining Weather, Kozek was co-founder and chief technology officer of Ghostery (previously known as Evidon), where he managed the engineering, product, data science, security and professional services teams for the company. There, Kozek’s engineering team managed the company’s immense data collection and storage system, processing nearly four billion events daily. His data science team ran algorithms on raw data to produce refined data and reports that identified market statistics on more than 50,000 companies and websites, as well as identified bad traffic.
Before Ghostery, Kozek was vice president, engineering and product management at Right Media, which was acquired by Yahoo! in 2007. He also spent four years as senior engineer at Spotfire.
Kozek holds a bachelor’s degree in English and education from the University of Massachusetts. He also attended the Harvard University Extension School, where he studied business, accounting and technology.
