Today, The Weather Company is unveiling a new animated branded background advertising solution for The Weather Channel app, which provides marketers with a unique way to tell their brand story through the lens of weather. These eye-capturing, high-impact animated ads take native advertising to the next level by integrating brands seamlessly into the weather experience for The Weather Channel app’s audience of nearly 15 million daily U.S. consumers.
These full-screen animated branded backgrounds will appear on the current forecast screen in the mobile app, delivering a marketer’s media at the right time and at the right place by capturing consumers’ attention during crucial daily planning moments.
Based on the current weather conditions at the user’s location, the branded backgrounds will change to mimic the local elements, whether it is cloudy, sunny, rainy or wintry, and the animations will subtly bring life to the weather conditions depicted.
Walt Disney Animation Studios will be the first marketer to leverage this new animated branded background solution for their upcoming film “Moana.”
Full-screen animated visuals featuring the lead characters, Moana, Maui and friends will be displayed on the current forecast screen, under translucent weather content, and encourage users to purchase tickets for the film in 3D at Moanatickets.com. The film opens in theaters Wednesday, November 23rd.
