The Weather Company Adds Two Executives to Ad Sales Organization

Twitter exec Jana Friedman joins as vice president of East Coast ad sales
Wanderful’s Tom Kersten named vice president of partner solutions

The Weather Company has tapped two new ad sales executives, Jana Friedman and Tom Kersten, to join its team. Both will be based in Weather’s New York office.

Jana Friedman joins Weather as the vice president of East Coast ad sales, where she is responsible for developing sales strategy and leading the regional sales team focused on cross-platform sales, including weather.com and The Weather Channel apps on mobile & tablet.

Tom Kersten has been named vice president of partner solutions. In this role, he will oversee the partner solutions team and drive the strategy for developing data-driven solutions that will leverage Weather’s first- and third-party data sets to help marketers reach the right audience, at the right time, with the right message and optimal weather conditions.

Jana was most recently at Twitter as director and head of national CPG sales. Throughout her career, she’s worked with Fortune 500 companies including Unilever, American Express, Reebok, Verizon, Coca Cola and many others. Jana reports to DJ Reali, SVP of national advertising sales.

Tom joins Weather from Wanderful, where he was the chief revenue officer. Tom also spent more than 10 years with Microsoft, and has held sales positions at MyBuys, Sidewalk.com and G&K Services. Tom reports to Randi Stipes, VP of global advertising solutions.
