Chief Financial Officer, The Weather Company
Mike Jones serves as CFO at The Weather Company, an IBM Business (Weather). He is responsible for all the accounting, treasury, finance and procurement functions. Prior to this role, Jones served as the company's vice president and controller and as director of financial reporting.
During his time at Weather, he has been involved in multiple refinance transactions, recapitalization, annual business valuations and equity plans. He also served on the due diligence integration teams during the company’s acquisition of Weather Central and Weather Underground. Jones was also a key contributor when IBM announced its intention to acquire the company in 2015.
Jones came to Weather from KPMG LLP, where he started his 12-year career in Toronto, Canada, before transitioning to the Atlanta office in 2000. Jones served clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to emerging businesses, with a focus on clients that serve in the consumer and industrial sectors. He has extensive experience in SEC reporting matters and technical areas such as revenue recognition, purchase accounting, stock based compensation and impairments.
Jones holds an honours bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Georgia and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
