As chief information and technology officer for IBM’s Watson Content & IoT Platform, Chris Hill is responsible for all technical operations across the platform. This includes bringing to life The Weather Company’s rich collection of globally scalable B2B, B2C and B2B2C products and services. Within the IBM Watson and Cloud division, the group operates one of the largest-scaled IoT data insights platform in the world. The Watson Content & IoT Platform group consists of:

  • The Weather Company, an IBM Business: The Weather Company offers the most accurate, personalized and actionable weather data and insights to millions of consumers and thousands of businesses via Weather’s API, its business solutions division, and its own digital products from The Weather Channel (weather.com) and Weather Underground (wunderground.com).
  • The Watson IoT Platform: A fully managed, cloud native service that makes it simple for people to derive value from IoT devices.
  • Watson Media: The Watson Media team creates corpuses of content for various industries. Companies can then use these industry corpuses to add machine learning to their business. This team is also responsible for creating cognitive solutions for publishers.

Based in Atlanta, he is part of the Watson Content & IoT Platform executive leadership team and reports to GM, Cameron Clayton.

Hill joined The Weather Company in 2000 and played an important role within many technologist roles. Most recently, he served as senior vice president for data platform and services with responsibility for the company’s data and content delivery APIs as well as analytics and systems engineering. Prior to that he was vice president of web development, where he lead the complete redesign and rebuild of weather.com from the ground up. He has also held positions as director of software engineering and senior software engineer.

Hil earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in economics from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, NC. He is based in the Atlanta office.
